We collect information for a number of reasons including:

  • To better understand your requirements and preferences;

Women Talking Finance may, for an indefinite period unless otherwise advised, use the information for future marketing, promotional, publicity, research and profiling purposes.  If you do not consent to the use of your information for these purposes or you wish to access, update or correct personal information please advise us in writing. 

How we collect this information

Information is generally collected:

  • When you subscribe to any of our online marketing free offers (ie E-books, calculators, newsletter);
  • When you purchase an education product;
  • When you engage our services as a client.

If you are unable to provide us with your personal information, we may not be able to organise for you to receive an offer, product or service.

This information will be kept confidential and secure at all times.

Cookies

These are text files stored on a person’s computer when they visit a website. Their sole purpose is to identify users and possibly prepare customised web pages or to save site login information. Women Talking Finance may use cookies on our websites. Cookies can be purged from your browser after every use. This is generally a very simple procedure. Although Women Talking Finance strive to ensure your security, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Women Talking Finance may provide links on our web pages to external parties (eg Zoom or Accuity). The content and views expressed on these third party websites are not the responsibility of Women Talking Finance.

  • Financial goals

Disclosure of personal information

There may be cases where Women Talking Finance will be requested to disclose your personal information to third parties. This is generally to assist us in providing you with a referral to another service provider within Australia.

This may include:

  • Financial advisers, insurance brokers to help assist with the provision of financial advice;
  • Lawyers, to assist with the provision of family succession and estate planning;

We will seek your verbal or email permission prior to providing your personal information.  We will not disclose any personal information overseas.

How we hold personal information

Your electronic records are stored in a secure commercial building and external information software services such as Microsoft OneDrive using a 2-step authentication process.

Protecting personal information

We protect your information by way of secure storage and system security. Women Talking Finance have a data deletion policy and will take reasonable steps to destroy the personal information we hold once it is no longer needed for any purpose.   You will receive all documents via an email before your personal information and coaching tools are deleted from our records.

Access to personal information

You are able to access any personal information that is held by Women Talking Finance subject to limited exceptions or required by law.

The following factors will be considered:

  • The information is related to a commercially sensitive decision-making process;
  • Access would be unlawful;
  • Denying access is required or authorised by or under law;
  • Providing access would be likely to prejudice an investigation of possible unlawful activity.

To access the information, you will need to contact the Privacy Officer as detailed in this policy. You may be charged a small fee applicable to the collection and provision of your personal information but will be notified of this fee prior to processing their request.

Women Talking Finance will be able to advise you how long it will take to provide the information. Generally however, you will receive the requested information within 14 days of the request. If you believe that the personal information we hold about you is incorrect, you have a right to request your personal information be corrected. Where we are unable to provide you with the information you have requested or correct your information, we will inform you and explain the reasons why.

Anonymity and pseudonymity

You may remain anonymous or use a pseudonym when dealing with us. However, it is important the details you share are accurate, otherwise our support may not be appropriate to your needs and circumstances.

How to Make a Complaint and How We Handle It

If you have a concern or complaint about our services, we encourage you to contact us directly via email or phone. We are committed to resolving complaints promptly and fairly. Upon receiving your complaint, we will acknowledge it within 3 business days and aim to resolve it within 10 business days. If additional time is required, we will keep you informed of the progress.

All complaints are handled with confidentiality and in accordance with our commitment to protecting your privacy.

If you are dissatisfied with the outcome, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, an approved external dispute resolution scheme.

How to Make a Complaint About a Breach of Your Privacy

At Women Talking Finance, we take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information. If you believe we have breached the APPs or a registered APP code that binds us, you can make a complaint by:

  • Your name and contact information;
  • A detailed description of the alleged breach;

How We Handle Privacy Complaints

1. Acknowledgement
We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days of receiving it.

2. Investigation
We will investigate your complaint thoroughly and impartially. This may involve reviewing our policies, procedures, and records related to your complaint.

3. Response
Once our investigation is complete, we will provide you with a written response detailing:

  • The outcome of our investigation;
  • Any steps we have taken or will take to address the issue;
  • Any remedies available to you.

We aim to resolve all complaints within 30 days of acknowledgment. If additional time is required, we will notify you and provide an estimated resolution timeframe.

If You Are Not Satisfied with Our Response

If you are not satisfied with our response or how we handled your privacy complaint, you may escalate the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). The OAIC is responsible for overseeing compliance with the APPs and handling privacy-related complaints.
